Types of construction services
Highway Construction
New Highway Construction
Where no previous roadway exists, Knelsen gathers its team of experts to form a safe and sturdy foundation. Once the foundation is layered with a compacted granular base, our paving crews are sent out with asphalt from our plants and place it following the specified engineered design.
Intersection & Turnout Treatment
Years after a highway is constructed, a new turning lane or rest area may be required. After assessing and confirming the equivalent grade and compaction of the existing highway, Knelsen’s team of experts will construct a sub-grade.
It is then topped with a compacted granular base for our paving crews to come to lay the hot mix asphalt taken from our very own asphalt plants.
Modeling & Paving
To ensure driver safety, existing roads may need to be rebuilt over time due to ongoing environmental factors. Depending on the existing road surface, this could involve reshaping, re-establishing grade, or compacting the road surface and adding GBC or our paving crew placing new asphalt.
Overlay Paving
Over time, you may see signs of minor surface damage to your pavement, including small cracks, rutting, potholes, depression caused by large vehicles, and water damage. In these cases, resurfacing may be needed. We have several paving crews that can come in and place new asphalt according to the specified engineered design and or our clients wishes.
Municipal Construction
Streets & Subdivisions
Knelsen Sand and Gravel’s municipal crew is a team of experienced, trained individuals able to meet your design needs. Whether you need a new or existing street or subdivision constructed, Knelsen has the team for it.
Recreational Trails
Wide or narrow trails, Knelsen has a line of smaller equipment to get the job done. We use our own in-house asphalt mix for all the work we do, to give you a quality product that we are confident will last.
Private Development
Parking Lots
Knelsen provides parking lot construction services for small and major parking lot projects. With rainfall and snowmelt in mind, we arrange a design that allows for proper water drainage.
Once the area is capped with GBC following the engineer’s or client’s design, our paving crew comes in to place asphalt.
Driveways
Knelsen constructs driveways of all shapes and sizes for out-of-town and in-town residents. Meet with our team of experts to discuss your visions for your property and leave it up to Knelsen to deliver quality work and the driveway you always imagined.
Industrial & Residential Development
We develop industrial and residential communities with respect to the people who live nearby. Whether you need entrances, roadways, parking lots, or a foundation made for buildings or shops, Knelsen has the resources for it.
As for residential development, Knelsen does everything from building parks and trails to clearing lots and installing sewer and water drainage.
